Been a while since I have added to the Bound Indulgence University vocabulary series, so I thought it was time to do so. It is certainly a word that applies to a good number of subs and all slaves, even though they may have not realized there was terminology for it.

Without further adieu then, today’s word is asthenolagnia, and it refers to sexual arousal as a result of being humiliated or having weaknesses exposed.  It is the opposite of sthenolagnia, which is a term for sexual arousal that stems from displays of strength. I’ll cover that in a future entry in this series.

Of course asthenolagnia can encompass a broad spectrum of activity and takes on different degrees of desire for various individuals. It can be verbal, physical or both, and may often involve ‘forced’ exhibitionism.

Those with asthenolagnia typically learn to accept their condition as a natural part of their sexuality. They tend to seek and achieve sexual gratification through  erotic humiliation from their partners  sometimes, spectators.

 It is rather common for people with asthenolagnia to gravitate toward the BDSM community, as the theme of submission in many BDSM activities corresponds to asthenolagnia’s arousal by weakness or from being incapable of resistance.

Simply translated, asthenolagnia is essentially erotic humiliation and the consensual use of psychological humiliation in a sexual context. Of course the dom or master will be satisfying his own sadistic wants, while the sub or slave  gains arousal from the mixed and powerful emotions of being humiliated and demeaned.

Humiliation doesn’t necessarily have to be sexual in and of itself.  As with many other sexual activities, it is the feeling derived from it, that is lusted for, regardless of the nature of the activity. As stated earlier, It can be verbal or physical, and can be relatively private or public.

Sometimes, asthenolagnia can cross over into other fetishes, of course, and to different degrees as well. Coprophiliacs, are those who get off on feces and excrement, I would venture to say, any subs/slaves who like to be covered in shit probably have asthenolagnia to some extent.  (You’ll never see that on my blog…I guess I just don’t get how shit turns a person on, LOL, to each their own.)  Urolagnia or watersports would be another example that would seemingly fall into the category. Bukkake events, where a slave is humiliated by being covered in cum is another example, and I can certainly understand how it could be a turn on.  Those who’d get off on or entertain the fantasy of being gangbanged or ‘raped’ by a group of guys, would be an extreme of asthenolagnia 

Often, it can become ritualized, and unlike some sexual deviations it can also be easily carried out over a long distance or online. The distinction between humiliation and dominance in an activity such as erotic spanking is that the sought after effect is primarily the humiliation, the activity is merely a means to that end.

Of course mild or moderate humiliation is certainly not an uncommon part of BDSM or other sexual role play, humiliation play can be edge play, either because of its extreme nature or even due to the controversial views on its psychological impact. 

Not to drift from the subject, too much, but here is a little sidebar. Today, with rare exception, I am pretty much all dom, But I guess to some degree, as a kid, when I had more submissive interests, I was affected by asthenolagnia, at least to a degree. However, it was not in all circumstances.  When we’d play our strip games out at my uncle’s farm, the loser was, of course, the sex slave. If my friend Manuel was with us, I didn’t really like being humiliated by him, even if I was to lose to him.  My friend Wes, however, was a couple years younger, had more of that Apha persona, and I’d even cheat to lose to him, from time to time. Often, he liked to humiliate me, more than carry out the torture aspect, especially if there was someone else with us.  Generally it was just the two of us, but on occasion we’d drag my friend Manuel along on our camping expeditions.

I posted about this a while back, even. One time, Wes made me wallow in the mud, and then not allow me to swim and wash off, but instead opted to let the mud dry all over my body, in the hot sun. 

At one point, he even made me lick the dirt off of his bare feet and suck his toes…and strangely, I was hard as a rock for both of these activities, and was so very embarrassed to do so in front of Manuel. So I suppose asthenolagnia is therefore subjective for some people. I can guarantee that if Manuel had ordered me to suck his toes, it wasn’t going to happen.  But then again, Wes had very cute feet, and I secretly liked being dominated by him.  In the same respect, if I had been ordered into the mud by Manuel, I would have done it, but the effect of the humiliation would not have been the same on me,  as when Wes was dominating me. 

So I digress. As such, asthenolagnia encompasses a range of paraphilia, in particular foot fetish, muscle worship, spanking, flogging, bondage and a good many other BDSM activities. It can be as basic as the desire to kiss and massage feet as a precursor to sex, or it can be complex, involving role play or public displays by the slave/submissive toward his master/dom.

Methods of Asthenolagnia 

Asthenolagnia is very open ended. There are verbal, and physical aspects. Verbal aspects might include:

Verbal belittlement, such as Boi, Boy, Slave  

Insults and verbal abuse, such as Little Dick, Ugly, Stupid, Worthless

Degrading references such as Faggot, Fag, Bitch, Whore, Slut

Slighting of body parts or behaviors, such as insulting or cruel references to muscle stature, such as ‘skinny’ or physical appearance, dick size, ass, and making fun of mannerisms, responsiveness, and standard of physical care or hygiene.

A slave/sub who must ask for permission to go to the bathroom, to eat, touch his penis, go out, or even spend money.

Small cock humiliation, where admonishment is directed at the inadequacy of the sub’s genitals or his inability to please his master (and by implication his implied worthlessness as a man and his penis becomes an object of play for the dom/master).  I have found this makes a good excuse for a flogging, :)

Forced Exhibitionism

Mockery and ridicule.

Physical and tangible aspects might include: Bukkake/Cumming on or urinating on the sub/slave’ body or face (Water Sports aren’t my thing, but following is the only picture of it, ever posted on my blog. Most urolagnacs certainly qualify as asthenolagnia 

Gang bang

Performance of slave tasks. Cooking, painting, vacuuming, etc 

Micro-Management as to time spent on, or activities done, including list of jobs to do, precise directions as to how the housework is to be performed, exactly how to act and behave, and so on. Failure to follow to the letter gives an excuse for punishment…an added plus here.

Specific rituals and duties to be performed by the slave/sub. This includes displays of subservience, such as lighting cigarettes, fetching a beer, walking a pace behind the dominant, only speaking when spoken to, kneeling before the dom/master and guests, eating from a bowl like a dog, sleeping on a floor or on hay in the basement, etc.

Role playing “lower status” beings such as puppies or adult baby play

Spanking, flogging, e-stim, bondage or other BDSM activities.

Prohibitions or restrictions on clothing, or feminization, cross dressing and/or sissification. (Not my thing at all, but it is what some crave…like I said, there are different aspects and degrees of asthenolagnia.) 

Being put into chastity or other means of sexual repression

Wearing of external signs of “ownership” such as a slave collar or choker chain with dog tag.

Having friends, or strangers aware of, or witnessing one’s treatment (i.e.: public humiliation).

Objectification, where the bottom is cast in the role of an object. (Again, not my thing, but there it is)

Embarrassment.

Forced Homosexuality.  I have one follower, in particular, who claims to be predominantly straight, but is attracted to the concept of gay sex, simply due to the humiliation of being bound, dominated and forced to be subjected to anal sex, spankings and forced blowjobs.  He is a classic case of asthenolagnia.
